OUTLOOK: Cody Farinella is described as a dynamic wrestler with a lot of untapped talent. Wrestling in the 141 pound weight class, Farinella should learn a lot in Missouri's practice room and develop into a potential contender for a starting spot in Missouri's lineup. "Cody is an outstanding wrestler," Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. "He's very talented and we're excited to get him into the practice room and build him into a tough competitor that will vie for a spot in our starting lineup. Cody's a well-rounded athlete and we expect him to well both on the mat and in the classroom." High School: A four-time state placer, Farinella earned top honors at 135 pounds during his senior season at Parkway North High School. Farinella finished the 2007-08 campaign with a perfect 45-0 record, bringing his career mark to 168-11. A native of Maryland Heights, Mo., Farinella wrestled in four different weight classes in high school finishing third at 112 pounds as a freshman, second at 125 pounds as a sophomore and second at 130 pounds as a junior. Farinella is a two-time runner-up at the freestyle state championships and finished third in Greco. The Parkway North Scholar Athlete of the Year, Farinella notched a 4.35 grade-point average and was named North's most outstanding wrestler all four years of high school. Farinella earned four letters in high school. Personal: The son of Joe and Pam Farinella, Cody was born Dec. 25, 1989, in St. Louis, Mo. He has one brother, Joe (20), and intends to major in chemical engineering.
