OUTLOOK: Brandon Wiest was coached by former Tiger grappler Dan Hayes and will begin his career at Missouri wrestling in the 141 pound weight class. "Brandon had a stellar high school career and only lost four or five matches," Head Coach Brian Smith said. "He came to several Missouri camps and would stay after and work with groups to improve his skills. He always wanted to be a Tiger and his preseason workouts have shown that he has the determination and skills necessary to become a strong competitor." HIGH SCHOOL: Coached by Dan Hayes at Fort Zumwalt West High School, Wiest was a three-time Missouri High School runner-up (2004, 2005, 2006) at 125, 135 and 145 pounds, respectively. Wiest took third in 2007 at 145 pounds. A high school nominee for the Wendy's high School Heisman Trophy, Wiest held a 3.9 grade-point average and was a three-time academic all-conference honoree. Wiest was also a member of the Fort Zumwalt West honor roll and received four letters with the Jaguars' wrestling team. PERSONAL: Born April 23, 1988, to Mike and Melissa Wiest in Independence, Mo., Brandon has one brother, Trevor (15). Wiest plans to major in business at Mizzou.
